I preordered this book and was completely captured from the very first page. The history of Fidelco and it's founders, Charlie and Robbie Kaman, was a wonderful backdrop to the glimpses of some of the many lives they have forever touched. The individual stories of the bond that develops between the humans and their guide dogs were inspirational to say the least. What an amazing leap of faith it must be for those individuals to have the courage to 'trust the dog'. The results of their faith in the abilities of their guide dogs are truly amazing.
"Trust The Dog" not only depicts individual stories but also allows you to see the big picture. The vision of the Kamans grew into a non-profit organization where its employees, volunteers, foster families, contributors, dogs and their owners all work seamlessly together for the good of society.
In this world of greed and 'what's in it for me', it is reassuring to know that there are some individuals and organizations who only give and not take.
I warn you that you will shed a few (maybe many) tears reading this book. And what a wonderful book it is!

The background of the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation and the stories of the people they've helped is fascinating. The commitment and progress is inspiring, and the dogs are fantastic too. (I've always been amazed at how dogs disobey to protect their owner.) Well-written and worth sharing with young and old alike. And I loved the photos of the German Shepherds; these are real working dogs and not the dogs you see in the show ring. (They're not supposed to look like triangles.)
